The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recently welcomed the assignment of new heads as ordered by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
In three separate Department Orders issued by the DOJ, three personnel were reassigned to key positions in the Bureau.
The DOJ is the mother department of the BI, and has administrative control over the agency.
Atty. Candy Tan, who was previously assigned at the BI Main office, has been designated as the Acting Chief of the BI’s Port Operations Division. Tan currently holds the plantilla position of Attorney III, and was appointed vice Grifton Medina, who was reassigned as the Bureau’s Chief of the Personnel Section.
Meanwhile, seasoned lawyer Atty. Ronaldo Ledesma, who currently heads the Bureau’s Board of Special Inquiry and training office, has been assigned to chair the Board of Discipline. The newly-reconstituted board, made up of five Bureau lawyers, are expected to swiftly act on administrative cases in the Bureau.
“We welcome these new assignments given by the DOJ,” said BI Commissioner Jaime Morente. “We trust the wisdom of the Secretary of Justice, and we hope that these changes in heads would allow us to further improve the quality of service that the BI provides,” he added. JAMES DE JESUS
