DOH: Jab teachers first before in-person classes

Republika

Before in-person classes are resumed in selected areas, the Department of Health has advised that all teachers must first be vaccinated.

Health secretary Francisco Duque III announced that his agency and the Department of Education have come up with regulations for the safe implementation of face-to-face classes. However, President Rodrigo Duterte must sign off on these before they are put in motion.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, chair of the committee on basic education, said that there is a need to review DepEd’s distance learning programs as well as institutions’ preparedness for the coming school year.

In addition to improving the quality of education Filipino children receive, Gatchalian also said schools should focus on ensuring the availability of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities should in-person classes resume.
