Despite the government’s previous ruling that presenting a vaccination card is the only requirement to travel domestic and that swab tests are no longer necessary, the Department of Health recently said otherwise.
According to the health agency, while the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) crafts a policy for the use of vaccination cards, Covid19 testing is still a requirement.
Previously, health secretary Francisco Duque III said that Resolution 101—which states that testing is not needed unless the local government unit concerned requires it—stands until a new policy replaces it.
Earlier, some local government units—among them Baguio City and Davao City—announced that Covid19 testing would not be required of tourists as long as they can present their completed vaccination cards.
The government has been to and fro regarding protocols for travel. Mid-June, the DOH entertained the possibility of completely tossing swab testing for returning Filipinos vaccinated outside the country. Currently, this applies only to persons jabbed in the Philippines.
