An icon among clans in Cebu City, Jose “Dodong” Gullas, 87, owner and former administrator of the University of Visayas (UV) and chairman of local newspaper, Freeman Cebu, died on Thursday, Feb. 25 at a hospital in the city.
His nephew Gerald Anthony Gullas, Talisay City mayor, was one of the first mourners who expressed sorrow over the passing of his uncle, in a Facebook post.
The late Gullas was known for his leadership of UV and The Freeman, as well as his integrity, hard work and tenacity.
A true-blooded sportsman, he also founded the Gullas Cup, the oldest junior tennis tournament outside of Manila.
The Gullas family is yet to make any announcement regarding his wake and internment.
