Death the great equalizer

The SHEPHERD | Danilo Q. Junco

Nobody would like to talk about death as the topic is so morbid and fearful as the majority of the people don’t know what lies ahead after this life.

Through the onset of the coronavirus disease or Covid-19 scourge that more than 14,000 already of our countrymen died and over 800,000 infected and over 2 million died all over the world and more than 135 million contracted, death is no longer remote but a reality that nobody can escape from it.

In other words, whether you are rich, or poor, learned or unlearned, powerful or weak, erudite or ignorant, among others, all of them will die. So, death is an equalizer of mankind or humanity as all die and none is exempted.

The Bible says in Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”

It was through Adam and Eve, first parents of humankind, who committed sin or rebellion against God that brought sin into this world and death as all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

Physical death simply meant a separation from the soul and the spirit while spiritual death is a separation from the physical body and soul and ultimately from God.

There is nothing beautiful looking to the corpse of a person as death is so ugly and it is a result of sin or rebellion against God.

God, however, offers salvation to humanity through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, though He is God in the Second Person of the Godhead, by coming to earth and became a man and died to pay mankind’s sins and its all punishments and resurrected from the dead to back up His claims that He is the Son of God and God Himself together with God The Father and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus elaborated the teaching of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as recorded in John 14-17 and the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20.
Seeing the remains of a dead person as if it is just sleeping, no movement whatsoever and to some religious groups interpreted it as extinct.

The body should be decayed but in our contemporary time almost all of the dead persons are cremated; only the ashes are placed inside Urns.
Whatever be the status or situation of man while he is still here on earth but when he dies, nothing he can present to God but himself as he is accountable of all the things he did on earth. Wealth, wisdom, power, prestige, among others will not be used to escape God’s judgment on him. On earth he can do all what he wants but when he dies, his spirit and soul and later on his body to be alive again when God releases His final judgment.

If a person has repented of his sins and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior of the Bible not religion is saved from damnation in Hell.
If he has not, he will be damned and tormented for eternity in the Lake of Fire or in Hell.
