The Department of Budget and Management recently disbursed P311.79 million in special risk allowances (SRAs) to medical frontliners.
The department issued two sets of special allotment release orders, with one amounting to P280.1 million for public and privates healthcare workers, while the other one amounting to P31.7 million, covered public health workers only.
These funds were reportedly sourced from miscellaneous personnel benefits fund and unprogrammed appropriations in the year’s P4.5 trillion budget.
The money is meant to cover 20,208 public and private health workers in direct contact with Covid19 patients. They will be given P5,000 per month on pro-rated basis (the number of days they reported for work in a given month).
“The Department of Health shall facilitate the downloading of the funds to the DOH-retained hospitals, treatment and rehabilitation centers, private hospitals and other Covid19 facilities,” said the DBM.
The development came three days after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered both the budget and health departments to pay frontliners’ allowances. They were given ten days from Saturday morning to do so.
The DBM has also adjusted Nurse 2 position from Salary Grade 15 to SG 16 and reinstated the previous SG levels for Nurse 3 to 7 positions.
