The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) cut by P1 billion the 2020 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways to give more funds for the administration’s response to COVID-19.
This brings the budget of the DPWH from the original P580.9 billion down to P457.9 billion.
Aside from the DPWH, other agencies that suffered budget cuts include the Department of National Defense, Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education.
The budget cuts are from programs and projects that have not yet been implemented.
The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act allowed the realignment of budgets of various agencies to give way to addressing the health and socioeconomic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
