Davao City government is now negotiating to buy coronavirus disease or Covid19 vaccines developed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals of Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in addition to AstraZeneca, said Dr. Ashley Lopez, City Health Office Covid19 chief.
Lopez said that it was Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio who made the negotiation in procuring the initial doses of Covid19 vaccines from Johnson & Johnson and it will arrive by the third quarter of this year around the same time with the arrival of AstraZeneca vaccines from Great Britain.
He, however, did not divulge how many doses that the city government was planning to purchase from the vaccine makers.
Lopez said that the city health officials were already holding training for the frontline health workers who will administer the vaccines, expected to arrive in the second half of this year.
The initial Pfizer-manufactured Covid19 vaccines from the national government will arrive in the city by the last week of February.
