CSJDM now highly urbanized city

Republika

President Duterte has promoted the City of San Jose del Monte (CSJDM) in Bulacan to “highly urbanized city” status, per Proclamation No. 1057.

According to the Local Government Code of 1991, the chief executive may bestow HUC status on a city if it has a minimum population of 200,000 as certified by the Philippine Statistics Authority and an income of P50 million yearly as attested by the city treasurer.

CSJDM became a component city of Bulacan in 2000. With a declared population of 574,000 as of 2015, it claims to be the region’s most populous city.

It becomes the third HUC in Central Luzon after Angeles City and Olongapo City.
