Countries in UK’s travel Red List cut

Republika

In order to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, countries around the world closed their borders and established travel restrictions. The UK has taken a huge step by dropping the ban on foreigners travelling to England, as announced by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

At the beginning of this month-November 1st-the remaining countries in the travel red list were taken off of it: Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru, Venezuela.

There would no longer be a need for Britons arriving from there to check into a quarantine hotel for 11 nights. Nationals from those countries would, in turn, now be able to travel to England with no problems.

On his official Twitter account, Shapps made the announcement in a series of Tweets:

“UPDATE: All seven remaining countries on the red list will be REMOVED from Monday, November 1 at 4 a.m.

We can also confirm that from Monday, eligible travellers from over 30 new countries and territories including Peru & Uganda will be added to our inbound vax policy, bringing the total number of countries on this list to over 135.

We will keep the red list category in place as a precautionary measure to protect public health and are prepared to add countries and territories back if needed, as the UK’s first line of defence.”

Additionally, the UK government now recognizes coronavirus vaccines for arrivals from over 30 new countries and territories.
