A police officer who played with his gun in front of the detention cell in San Luis Municipal Station in Aurora Saturday, March 6, allegedly fired the weapon, accidentally hitting and killing an inmate who was watching a TV.
The suspect patrolman, Christian Torres, 27, was under restrictive custody as the investigation of his case is ongoing. The inmate was identified as Christian Gabral, 30.
Probers said that Torres went in front of the detention cell, drew his issued firearm and began playing with it and accidentally fired, hitting Gabral on the chest while the latter was watching television.
Gabral was brought to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
“If found guilty, Torres will be meted with both administrative and criminal charges. We do not condone any irregularities of our personnel,” said PBrig. Valeriano De Leon, PRO3 Regional Director.
De Leon also ordered to subject Torres to a drug test.
