The dictum that says “crime does pay” is true for the alleged killers of lawyer Eric Jay Magcamit who were identified. The gunman was arrested and jailrd at the Palawan provincial police office.
Arrested was M/Sgt. Ariel Pareja at his hideout in Barangay Alfonso 13 on Sunday, Nov. 29.
Pareja and his boss Marcelo Quoyo, along with six unidentified men were charged with murder before the provincial prosecutor’s office on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Pareja was the bodyguard of Quoyo whose land dispute was contested by another claimant that had Magcamit as his lawyer.
“Administrative charges are also being prepared against Pareja,” said Philippine National Police chief Gen. Debold Sinas.
The other alleged gunman was a former soldier and casual employee of the Quezon municipal government, Jazer Ray del Rosario, who had been charged earlier with murder.
Magcamit was shot in Barangay Malinao while he was driving his Toyota Innova on his way to a court hearing.
