The SHEPHERD | Danilo Q. Junco
The almighty God—creator of the universe, earth, sun, moon, man and all things visible or invisible, earthly or spiritually, with life or none life—wants to have an intimate relationship with His chosen people by dwelling on them.
God showed this kind of relationship with Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but only on the time of Moses who led the Jewish people on the wilderness following of their deliverance from Egypt and before conquering Canaan as their possession that He instructed Moses to build a tabernacle patterned after the tabernacle of His dwelling place in Heaven (Exodus 13:1-33;40:1-38).
The purpose of which was to dwell among His people where He could lead and protect them from their enemies while learning His ways and thoughts prior to the conquest of Canaan as their own land which was later on called Israel.
The tabernacle was pitched at the center where about 3.5 million Jews also lived through tents and inside the wall at the entrance or the outer court were the bronze altar, bronze laver, then inside were the two compartments called the Holy Place where another pieces of furniture the table of showbread, the lampstand and the incense altar, then a 50 feet high curtain was to cover the most Holy Place or the Holy of Holies where a piece of furniture the Ark of the Covenant where in the inside were placed the ten commandments or God’s moral laws, manna and Aaron’s rod that buds.
God’s protection and leading of the Jews was through a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night when the cloud moves, they have to move as well for their journey and when the cloud stops, they have to stop (Exodus13:34-38).
After the tabernacle was the temple built by King Solomon of Judah. In fact, it was so glorious but because of breaking the covenant with God by worshiping idols or demons or Satan, God’s presence left them and the temple was destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 586 B.C.
When the Jewish remnants came back to Israel in the city of Jerusalem in 538 B.C., the second temple was built through the leadership of Zerubbabel but not as glorious as the temple built by Solomon.
This temple was renovated by King Herod of Israel for 46 years (John 2:20) but again it was destroyed as prophesied by Jesus in 70 A.D. because the Jews rejected the Lord Jesus as their Messiah and God.
They were scattered in all four corners of the world for more than 2000 years and then God brought the remnants back again to Israel on May 14,1948 until now they have been living in that tiny portion of the land.
And this time, God dwells individually and corporately in the bodies of His people, the genuine believers or disciples (I Corinthians 6:19-20).
This is the reason why we have to keep our bodies from defilement or anything that will destroy our bodies for they are the abode of God through the Holy Spirit, the God in the Third Person of the Godhead (Matthew 28:19-20; John 14:16-17; 16:5-10).
Anything that desecrates our bodies we should dump it and maintain the purity of our bodies in holy and righteous living because the moment we engage in unrighteousness or unholy living, God all the more would destroy our bodies.
The Holy Spirit is the representative of the Lord Jesus Christ to finish His work among His people here on earth prior to the consummation of this evil age.
