Following Beatrice Luigi Gomez’s triumph as the Philippines’ bet for Miss Universe 2021, a fellow Cebuana has won the Miss World Philippines 2021 crown.
Tracy Maureen Perez, 28, is an industrial engineer by trade, proving that brains and beauty do go hand in hand. She will be representing the country in the 70th Miss world 2021 pageant this December.
Apart from winning the main award, she also netted Best in Swimsuit, Miss Blue Waterday Spa, Miss Artopian International, Miss Bench and Miss Dermfix.
Like Gomez, Perez had previously competed in pageants, earning the title of Binibining Cebu Charity in 2018 to 2019 and finishing in the Top 12 in Miss World Philippines pageant in 2019.
Despite falling twice on stage, she made up for with an insightful reply in the Question & Answer portion.
Asked what lessons she hoped people would take away from the current global health crisis, she said: “After this pandemic, I hope that we never take for granted the family that we have, taking care of our health and taking care of the people that protect us like our leaders, our frontliners. We should always give importance to those people. We may not see the efforts that they give out, but most definitely they are our modern heroes. For that, we should always be grateful, and that we should always stick with them and pray for them.”
