Business is booming in Manila

Republika

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has disclosed that business applications are up by a whopping 42 percent, despite the quarantine lockdown imposed by the government.

For the period January to February 2021 alone, he said the Bureau of Permits recorded 911 new business applications, compared to only 642 for the entire 2020 and 460 in 2019.

Moreno said this business renaissance may have been prodded by his “Manila Supports Local” campaign in September 2020 designed to help businessmen increase earnings amid the pandemic.

Levi Facundo, chief of the permits office, said these new businesses will definitely go a long way in bumping up the local economy and increase the livelihood of Manilenyos.
