The provincial government of Batanes recently disclosed that an Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APOR) who arrived from Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on Mar. 12 had tested positive for Covid19.
As of Saturday last week, two out of seven of his fellow passengers tested negative for the virus, while the five others were still waiting on their results.
Despite the uniformed travel protocols set forth by the Inter-Agency Task Force, Batanes still requires visitors to undergo swab tests and quarantining measures when entering the area.
Last December, Batanes became Covid-free when their third case involving an 82-year-old man recovered from the disease.
Currently, the Philippines, along with other countries, is experiencing a surge in cases, most likely due to the presence of Covid19 mutant viruses.
