ARTA cites QC for ‘ease of doing business’

Republika

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) recently conducted an Ease of Doing Business Summit. Both the Department of Building Official (DBO) and Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) of Quezon City were recognized. The DBO got a special citation as the 3rd Big Impact Indicator for their efforts in “Dealing with Construction Permits” in the Doing Business 2020 report.

The city government got the “Doing Business Competitiveness Mover” recognition. It was awarded for their ability to provide quick, efficient services to business owners, especially for small business owners or start ups that are opening in the city.

National government agencies, local government units (LGUs) and private corporations alike were in attendance. They all had the goal of providing efficient, competent government services as they streamline current systems.

“We are very thankful to ARTA led by Director General Atty. Jeremiah Belgica,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said. “These are attestations that the city’s initiatives have been effective in streamlining government services and making it more accessible, convenient, and efficient.”

Back in October, 95% of business permit applications were submitted to the Quezon City government online. Automated e-services are available to those renewing their businesses and aspiring business owners alike.

This led to keeping the inconvenience of physically heading for City Hall at bay. Most importantly, it reduced risk and exposure alike to the coronavirus pandemic.

BPLD sends an electronic copy of the owner’s permit as soon as the business application is approved. The applicant also receives the physical copy delivered for free through the Automated Document Delivery System (ADDS) of the department.

“We will not stop here. We will further strengthen and improve our business processes to attract more investors,” Belmonte added, “as we move towards making QC the preferred business destination.”
