The SHEPHERD | Danilo Q. Junco
No matter what the people or nations try to do to prevent war, it cannot be stopped.
After the aftermath of World War 1, Britain and France and other Allied Nations established the League of Nations in 1920 tasked to avert any possible conflict of nations which would lead to war.
Its primary function was to keep peace in the world that there would be no more wars would occur but it only lasted for about 15 years as World War II started in Oct. 1935 when Italy started its offensive through Benito Mussolini to advance his troops into Abyssinia or Ethiopia.
After World War II again the Allied Nations led by the United States replaced the League of Nations with the United Nations responsible to keep peace all over the world.
The Lord Jesus Himself prophesied that there would be rumors of wars, nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom (Matthew 24:6-7).
And His prophecies about war happened accurately to two World Wars aside from pockets of war from tribe to tribe or nation to nation.
This only tells us that no group or establishment or nations like the Allied Nations can halt war despite their concerted efforts to maintain peace on earth.
The idea of having peace in this world is a misnomer as there can be no tranquility around the globe unless Satan and all his cohorts or minions will finally be thrown into the lake of fire or hell.
And the last war on earth which will come according to the prophecy of the Bible is the Battle of Armageddon recorded in Revelation 16:16; 20:8; Ezekiel 38:8, 21;39:2, 4, 17.
This will happen after Jesus reigns as King of God’s Kingdom for 1000 years here on earth and then Satan who has been bound in the Abyss will be freed and he instigates the rebellious people in the four corners of the world to make war and fight against God.
This war is called Armageddon but Satan and all the warring nations will be defeated by God and in fact fire that comes from heaven will devour Satan and his allies and will cast all of them to hell (Revelation 20: 7-10; 19: 19-21).
Armageddon is a Hebrew word meaning a mountain in Megiddo (Revelation 16:16). This is a place well-known in the Old Testament history for destruction and slaughter (Judges 5:19; 2 Kings 9:27; 2 Chronicles 35:22) and referring to Manasseh’s tribe.
In this place Israel defeated the kings of Canaan and this might be taken as a typical triumph of God and His Kingdom over hostile world powers.
Prophet Ezekiel prophesied the destruction of Gog and Magog in this area and it is also here that Satan and his hosts’ defeat will take place according to Revelation 20:8.
