Alaska bids goodbye to the PBA

Republika

The Alaska Milk “Aces” basketball team is leaving the Professional Basketball Association (PBA) for good after more than three decades, most ostensibly a victim of the Covid pandemic.

The Aces, which is owned by Alaska big boss Fred Uytengsu and coached by former standout Jeffrey Cariaso, have under their sleeve a grand total of 14 PBA titles (including the 1996 grand slam under coach Tim Cone).

Uytengsu revealed that Alaska will be selling its PBA franchise (it joined the league in 1986) to interested parties, but as of now there are still no takers.
He said the company has opted to disband its team to better focus its “scarce resources” on its core businesses.

PBA sources claimed the Uytengsu stake is in the market for “nine figures.”
