Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola recently revealed that she had been discriminated against on two occasions in two separate branches of luxury brand, Chanel.
In a vlog uploaded to her YouTube channel, Jessy unboxed her new Chanel Deauville Tote Bag, which she purchased from a reseller online.
“This is my second Chanel bag,” she shares. “The reason why I like buying from luxury resellers, natatakot na ako pumunta sa boutique ng store. Hindi ko sinasabi lahat ng boutiques or branded stores gano’n ‘yung ugali ng mga staff, but I had a bad experience before sa isang brand, which is Chanel.”
She then recounted two instances, the first of which began when she entered Chanel to buy their flap bag, but was not assisted by the sales associate.
“Tiningnan niya ko from head to toe tapos hindi niya ako pinansin,” she recalled.
The second instance occurred in a Chanel store in Taiwan.
Wala naman tao nu’n,” she said. “Ayun, medyo na-traumatize na ‘ko.”
The host-actress’ experience is reminiscent of how media mogul Oprah Winfrey was treated in a luxury store in Zurich, Switzerland, where the shop assistant reportedly refused to show her a $38,000 bag, saying it was too expensive for her.
