Abalos is new MMDA chief

Republika

Former Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos has been reportedly named by Malacanang to head the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Abalos replaces the late Gen. Danilo Lim who suddenly succumbed to Covid19 last week. A decorated military officer, Lim was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Benhur is the son of Ben Abalos Sr. who was also MMDA chairman, former chairman of the Commission on Elections and himself a multi-term Mandaluyong mayor.

The younger Abalos was former congressman for Mandaluyong City.
Jojo Garcia will stay on as MMDA general manager.
