Parañaque mayor and Metro Manila Council (MMC) chairman Edwin Olivarez announced that 17 mayors have agreed to inoculation.
In a radio interview, Olivarez said “All of us 17 mayors have agreed to get vaccinated to boost the confidence of our constituents. If they can see mayors, governors vaccinated, their confidence will increase”.
The decision comes as local government officials were recently reclassified under the priority list for vaccination, to the same level as frontliners.
Among the council members, the mayors of Manila, Pateros, and Pasay have been vaccinated.
Isko Moreno (Manila) received his first dose of Sinovac, while Miguel Ponce III (Pateros) and Imelda Calixto-Rubiano (Pasay) both received their first jab of AstraZeneca.
The remaining local government officials are set to be inoculated within the week.
