A 10-year-old girl who had come to ask for help in answering a school module was allegedly raped and killed by a farmer in Calubian, Leyte on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Suspect Jaime Marahay, 32, surrendered to police on Thursday, Jan. 21, two days after the victim died.
The victim’s body was found by barangay officials and police in the mountainous area of San Isidro town, Calubian on Friday, Jan 22.
The girl reportedly went to the house of Marahay looking for his wife who could help her with her school module.
Marahay’s wife, however, was in a meeting in barangay hall and only the two minor sons were left in the house.
The suspect then asked his two sons to pasture their cow and subsequently raped the victim, said P/Lt. Col. Bella Rentuaya.
Rentuaya said that after raping the victim, he brought the girl to the mountain where he hacked the girl with his bolo and buried her.
The victim sustained a hack wound to the neck that caused her death.
